Open Street's Guwahati

Open Streets Guwahati is a non-commercial event that is organized as a quarterly event between October and March at select localities in the city. A section of a street is blocked for motor vehicle movement and opened up for physical activities and active mobility events. The idea and objective behind Open Streets Guwahati is to open up city streets to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds who can participate in activities like cycling, walking, yoga, painting, Zumba, traditional games, roller skating, martial arts demonstration etc.

Open Street aims to improve the quality of life and well-being of people by bringing them together to create more vibrant, healthy and equitable communities in the city. Through these initiatives, people are made aware about the importance of car-free streets, physical activities, community cohesion, and the quality time they get to spend.

Pedal For A Change organises Open Streets Guwahati in partnership with ESAF Foundation who provides the funding required for the event. For the various aforementioned activities PFAC partners with local organizations and groups related to cycling, yoga, Zumba, dancing, skating, martial arts, etc.

Since its inception in December 2019, a total of 8 editions have been organized.

The program is part of our advocacy efforts and citizen engagement for healthy lifestyles and safer and inclusive streets in the city.
